Sunnyside Communiqué

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.  Give thanks to Him, bless His name.” {Psalm 100:4.}

Dear Saints:

Happy Thanksgiving!  Time to put on your long Johns (only those who are over 50 will have any idea of what I am talking about) and wool socks.  Winter is trying to threaten its birth pangs this weekend.  However, Sunnyside will be warm and rapturous in prayer, praise, and study this.  Grab your winter coat and scarf and join our worship!

Sabbath worship will be on the theme, “Sweeter as the Years Go By.”  We will look at how the prophetic/patriarchs and matriarchs of the Bible found the courage to keep the blessed hope alive in their hearts from age to age as the scroll of the plan of salvation slowly unrolled.  Many could only see through a dark glass but still found faith to believe.  We will bring the foretelling visions up to our day and study how we can keep a strong, vibrant faith alive at a time when faith is becoming a museum relic in many minds in our world.

There will be something special for the children during second service this Sabbath. The grade 3s and 4s will be telling the story of Moses in song and words in the Fellowship Hall. Do bring your children and grandchildren for Kid’s church.

Saturday night’s Celebration of Thanksgiving Concert with the acapella group “Committed” at New Hope Church is sold out and expecting a full house.  If you have complementary tickets and cannot go, please, see if there is someone else who would like to use them.  Remember, you will need some non-perishable food items for donation at the door to enter.  Thanks Adventist Medical Center for sponsoring this!

At the church there will still be Encounters at 5:00 and the Romanian prayer meeting at 6:00.

We are expecting a good turnout for the Outreach banquet on Sunday evening, 6:00 pm.  If you have not registered, look for the signup sheets after church.  If you do neither but just show up at the banquet, the presence of your checkbook in your hand will be considered an emeritus ticket to enter and you will not be turned away.  Dorothy and I are making a trip to Arizona to be with my mom for Thanksgiving.  She is doing so-so and this is not an emergency trip, but our family is doing a visit relay of sorts to keep our eye on things and this is my turn.  Hence, I will not be able to be at the banquet but I will be with you in spirit.  Our pledge or check will be left behind to help boost the final tally.

Remember, the office will be closed this week Thursday and Friday, and the bulletin deadline is Tuesday for this coming week.

Remember the church business meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 30, at 7:00 pm, as we look at the plans that have been drafted for a Sunnyside refurbishment project.  We need everyone’s input and thoughts on the project.

See you Sabbath!
