Hello Sunnyside Gang,
No place better this week than Oregon, and it is supposed to stay this way through this weekend and the next as well. Perfect camp meeting weather! You just have to love it!
I need to share some thing with you. This story starts with our church administrative assistant, Rosie, getting an announced visit this week from a mother who stopped by and wanted to see the Sunnyside church facility. This is the story as it was related to us from Rosie:
“One of the nursing students who had been here on the campus for two years told his mother how awesome Sunnyside Church is. She came in and wanted to see the facility in which he had spent so much time, and shared with me that he had told her about all the activities that we have created for the youth, how we have used our resources to help the kids attend — how the church members have gone out of their way to put their arms around the students and make them feel comfortable.
He said this is a very resourceful church and they have put all their resources into supporting the youth and creating exciting activities for them and making sure that everyone who wanted to go, could.
It was a very pleasant and rewarding conversation with her sharing the good feeling her son had while he was a student here in Portland. She wanted to share her gratefulness for wrapping our arms around her son.”
Might I just say that a lot of thanks for making this happen needs to go to too many of you for me to attempt to list. It is very heartening to know that our (your) efforts have been received with great appreciation.
You will be specially blessed by the worship experience at Sunnyside this week. Pastor Jonathan is speaking and his sermon is entitled, “The Unintended Consequences of Evangelism.” There will be a lot to this program. It will be interesting, thought provoking, and I guarantee, one that will not be quickly forgotten. The reason for the last statement is, well, if I told you I would spoil it. Do plan to come and bring a friend.
Camp meeting starts next week Tuesday night. You can go to orgccampmeeting.adventistnw.org to see all of the details. Remember, should you wish to be at Sunnyside on Sabbath, the 21st, there will be full services here, howbeit, there will only be one church service beginning at 11 a.m. The service carries the theme, “In Love…In Ministry.”
And then we are on to the next big thing at Sunnyside—SunnyCity! If you did not see the news write-up on last year’s SunnyCity, you still can by going to:
Dorothy and I will miss you in that we will be in California for my nephew’s wedding. It will be a quick trip there and back for camp meeting set-up.
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread? Psalms 27:1.
