A big thanks to all who participated in the many activities at Sunnyside this last week—from Children’s Church, to the Veteran’s Sabbath, to Sunnyside Symphony, and much more.
This week Pastor Jonathan will speak accompanied by a host of Sunnyside young adults. And, on Sunday at 5:00, we are calling everyone together for our annual Sunnyside Outreach Ministries Banquet. There is a great meal being planned and an informative program outlining what happened in outreach in 2012 and a vision will be presented for 2013. Our many ministries are very dependent on the funding that comes from this dinner to enable them to continue to do ministry in the upcoming year.
Should you not be able to attend, on Sabbath morning you will be able to write on your tithe/offering envelope “Faith Forum” and your contribution will go towards the fundraising goal. At this point we still need $19,000 for 2013. Have questions? Bring them to the banquet. Your assistance is vital to Sunnyside to carry forward this rich ministry program.

Sunnyside Ministries Outreach Banquet is tomorrow, Sunday, November 18, at 5:00 pm right here in our Fellowship Hall. Contributions will fund the Ministries Outreach for 2013. SunnyShare Cooperative There is a table located in the hallway near the Fellowship Hall for food, extra produce, and goods from Sunnyside homes and gardens to share.

Healthy Heart Team Lifestyle Improvement Program
The Gateway Fred Meyer store is the first Healthy Heart Team screening site begun November 15, 2007. The shoppers have come to depend on the team being there once a month as has the store management. This past month the volunteers screened 70 shoppers, and 4 requested to have lifestyle improvement coaching follow-up one-on-one. A volunteer meets them at Portland Adventist Medical Center for follow up.
There are 4 volunteers from our Sunnyside members and the rest are from other Adventist churches. The screening is the 2nd Sunday of each month from 11 am to 3 pm, but we hope to increase the time to 11 am to 5 pm if enough members sign up to participate. We have shifts from 11 am to 1 pm, 1 pm to 3 pm, 11 am to 2 pm, and 2 pm to 5 pm.
It is due to the faithful participation of even a few members that this site continues with screening. We need experienced people to take blood pressure and do lifestyle improvement coaching, and friendly people to greet and do secretarial services.
2013 Devotional Books Are Now Available – Refresh your spirit with a new devotional book. Books for all ages are available with special pricing for ordering through the church. Sign up sheets, brochures, and sample books are available at the display table in the lobby. Your non-offering check may be placed in a tithe envelope and labeled Account 9304 (please do not include other donations with this check).
Our Annual Flower Calendar for 2013 is now posted. You may begin filling it in now with your name on a Sabbath that you would like to share a bouquet of flowers with your church family.
Sabbath, December 1, 9 am to 1 pm our photographer will be set up in the Youth room to take pictures. Hurricane Sandy has left millions of people with needs ranging from food and water to personal care items, cleaning supplies, shelter, and much more. Trained Adventist Community Services Disaster Response (ACS DR) volunteers up and down the east coast of the United States are hard at work providing emergency and recovery assistance in Christ’s name. With your help, they can do much more. Follow The Star has positions open. Roman soldiers, angel choir, shepherds, and even parking attendants — jobs large and small. November 18, 6 pm: Portland Adventist Academy drama class will present “Eats and Acts” – a family-friendly play called “You Just Can’t Be Too Careful!” The event also includes a delicious 50’s style dinner served during the play, complete with veggie burgers and French fries!
