Happy Preparation Day!

The Sabbath hours are soon upon us. The Sabbath I have found harder to celebrate while living in suburbia. The rural lifestyle of North Dakota was more private. No neighbors’ lawn mower, no parties across the street, and any vehicle traffic was a visitor to welcome in. Today, keeping the boundaries of the Sabbath takes deliberate intentionality. Still, if one takes the time, the rewards are the semester–quality time with God and others who share your beliefs.

Tomorrow we will celebrate our time together during the worship service reflecting on the scenes of Jesus at the house of Simon the Pharisee. This unique story in Luke 7:36-50 provides interesting insight into how Jesus, the master teacher, took charge of a touchy
situation and left many deep lessons.

Check out the many other announcements of other Sabbath events and many more to come in this newsletter. See you Sabbath. The blessing comes by keeping The Lord of the Sabbath as the object of the Sabbath.

ROMANIA
A School for Siret . . . a Church for Mihaileni . . .and a Whole Lot More!

* A new opportunity for service: The Builders team of our Romania Mission Taskforce may be recruited to help at the Mihaileni church, just a 10-minute drive east of Siret. If you enjoy indoor/outdoor construction and have a valid passport, sign up immediately for the 16-day project starting July 28. See Pastor Dick Fenn in the Elders/Mission office.

* Don Hall, DrPH, will conduct a six-night “Wellness for Romania” lecture series in Siret. Senior Pastor Scott LeMert and Pastor Dick Fenn will lead seminars in two area churches. For the children of Siret and neighbor cities, Natalia Gramada and her children’s ministry team will direct SunnyCity Siret and a VBS-type program called “Jesus’ Kids in the Kitchen.”

* The new president of the Moldova Conference is Pastor Florin Istrate. In his previous role as treasurer, Pastor Istrate participated in the Siret school groundbreaking last August, a ceremony promoted by members of the Sunnyside advance survey team.

* Each missionary to Romania is contributing a minimum of $2,340 to cover all travel and accommodation expense. Sunnyside Church is committed to help build and dedicate Siret’s Elisha Adventist Elementary School, the first such facility in Romania’s Bukovina region. Our objective: $50,000–of which we’ve already sent $14,000 ahead to get things going. We glorify our Lord and magnify His mission when we give to the Sunnyside Church Missions Project Fund. Multumim! Binecurvantari ceresti! Thank you! Heavenly blessings!
