Greetings Sunnyside Saints!
Summer’s relentless pace keeps moving on. Camp meeting is now over; we had the best of weather, great speakers and seminar presenters, and the Sunnyside Pathfinders and staff did a marvelous job of handling the corn dog crowd at the snack bar. I am hearing that they served 6,500. That is a lot of dogs!
Meanwhile, the Sunnyside mission trip to Romania continues full pace. We have quite a few of our members already there and working. We are hearing that one of the projects for the community, bathrooms for one of their hospitals, are now finished and in use. I believe this facility was an older building that was being renovated for hospital use and the locals ran out of funds before finishing the bathrooms. This Sabbath we will give a full report of this and other projects, as well as a dedication of those of us who will be leaving this Sunday.
Tomorrow is a celebration Sabbath for the Westermeyer family: a family reunion and a wedding. They will also be part of our worship service and the family members will be sharing with Sunnyside a special Sabbath evening vespers at 7:00 with Dr. Saleem Farag, Ann Westermeyer’s father.
See you Sabbath if not before.
Pastor Scott and Staff
News & Notes
Sabbath worship services are at 8:45 and 11:15 am. Pastor Scott LeMert will be presenting our Bible message entitled Don’t Slow Down for Me.
We extend a special welcome to our guests today. The families of Jonathon Thorp and Allie Westermeyer are assisting in our worship services. Brad and Kandus Thorp are the founders of the Hope Channel. Brad, Jonathon, and Chris will lead our singing; Stephen is our organist; and Kandus will join in on the piano. Special music will be provided by Ann Westermeyer, her sisters, Arlene Howard and Mary Penner. Mary’s daughter, Jennifer, will be playing the violin for the offertory. Daniel and Rebekah Howard are Arlene’s children. Grace Farag is Ann Westermeyer’s mother. Welcome to our worship services and thank you for blessing us with your talents.
Dr. Saleem Farag (Ann Westermeyer’s father) will present a vespers entitled “From Wabag to Washington DC to Where?” this afternoon at 7:00 pm here at Sunnyside. He will share the amazing and faith inspiring journey that led him from serving as a medical missionary in the highlands of New Guinea to his current ministry to the orphans of Zimbabwe as director of the Newstart Children’s Home. This is a vespers you will not want to miss.
Jonathon Thorp and Allie Westermeyer request the honor of your presence at their wedding tomorrow. They will be married here at Sunnyside at 3:30 pm, July 28.

Our monthly fellowship potluck will be next week. Plan to attend and bring enough food for your family as well as extra to serve our guests. This is a great time to visit with friends and make new acquaintances. Please remember that the kitchen crew would appreciate potluck dishes that are prepared, so they will not need to heat up the stoves. Think picnic style foods – easy serving, little or no prep, and ready to go! Please label your dishes and reclaim them when the meal is finished. Thank you from the Hospitality team.
Next Sabbath, August 3, our photographer will be taking photos in the Youth Room from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (Sabbath). If you haven’t had your picture taken for our photo directory, this would be a good day to do so, or if you need a re-take, Ben will be happy to do that as well. Stop in and find the best time available for him to take your picture. Help us keep our photo directory up to date and include your picture along with your contact information.

A rumor circulating that Pope Francis has a brother who is a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is untrue. Please disregard a widely distributed YouTube sermon in which Hugo Gambetta makes these claims. Church leaders from South America, who are familiar with the situation, have confirmed that Gambetta is a former Seventh-day Adventist minister.
