Dear Sunnyside Church family,
It was wonderful to meet with you to worship last Sabbath. The first Sabbath in Romania Olivian and Natalia Gramada, Michelle and Alice Marin, and myself worshiped in the church at Siret and we doubled the attendance for the day. We sang praises to God without accompaniment and I had no idea how to pronounce the Romanian words. After the service someone (Carmen for those who were there) brought out a tin of candy and we visited for a while. I smiled a lot as I had no other way of communicating. Sometimes we have no words…
Sometimes when we go through troubling experiences where there is hurt or pain we have no words. Even if we do have words we don’t know who to trust to tell them to. That is often the situation with those who are being or who have been abused.
Sunnyside Women’s Ministry asked that we address the painful subject of abuse. I hope that the Bible message will encourage each of you whether or not you or someone you know has been a victim of abuse. Sometimes our well meant comments can continue to cause pain to victims because of our lack of understanding of the situation.
We will introduce you to our new PAES principal Sabbath morning. Barbara Plubell.
There has been a great deal of activity in our picnic area outside of the Youth Class. If you parked in the AMC parking lot you probably would have noticed. A huge thank you to all who made it happen.
Pastor Scott will be away this weekend and Pastor Jonathan and the family will be taking a well deserved break next week.
grace mercy peace
News & Notes
Sabbath worship services are at 8:45 and 11:15 am. Pastor Shirley Allen will be presenting our Bible message entitled Jesus Is Your Refuge.
Today has been designated by the North American Division Women’s Ministries Department as the “EndItNow Emphasis Day.” Educating ourselves and our membership on this issue of abuse is paramount to change. We are God’s hands and feet — His arms of love to a world in need. The Sunnyside Women’s Ministries Department has taken up the challenge to address it here at Sunnyside. Remember, abuse is everywhere, in the community, as well as in the homes of church members!
If you or anyone you know is in need of resources we have placed brochures on the tables at the exit. Our Women’s Ministries leaders can also be contacted if you have any questions. Their contact details appear on the resources.
