First, a big thanks needs to do to all who helped make last weekend such a success. Our Reunion Sabbath was very well attended and Dr. Raj Attiken’s sermon was one to remember. The evening program was a packed house with excellent music and another devotional to remember by Dr. Attiken. Again, thanks to all to worked hard to help make this happen.
This Sabbath is also full: please note this is potluck Sabbath, there will be a special vesper concert by Allison Cheng at 7:00, Sabbath evening, and the annual church picnic and antique car show is at 3:30, Sunday afternoon.
Tomorrow’s Family Life and Mission will give additional details about our “Life on the Sunnyside,” Family Fun Run/Walk, and the upcoming Health Expo and risk screening. The worship service will center on the question, “If Jesus died for our sins, how is it that he was allowed to come back to life?” The sermon title is, “The Tomb Could Not Hold Him.”
There is another important item for all of us to consider: Portland Adventist Community Services (PACS) will host their annual banquet on October 6, at 5:00 pm Did you know that PACS distributed 92,266 articles of clothing, 364,979 pounds of food, and helped 84,147 people, all in just the second quarter of 2012. To do this they were assisted with almost 11,000 hours of volunteer labor. At the banquet, many churches and organizations sponsor tables which seat eight people for dinner and the program. Last year Sunnyside Church did not sponsor a table. The tables cost $500. I have the first $100; I need the next $400. If you are willing to help, please see Pastor Scott.
