I just did it! I wrote “2014!” As we reflect on 2013, the year has been good to Sunnyside, minus of course the tragic moments when we laid some of loved ones to rest, or those incidents in our congregation whereby someone lost a job or had financial difficulties. Not playing down any of those unfortunate circumstances, we were blessed as a congregation.
How does one put into perspective, the many events, special concerts, children’s church, VBS, Adventurers, Pathfinders, special Sabbaths, potlucks, 5K Fun Run, Health Expo, Romanian mission trip, a new addition to the Fireside Room—almost finished, Phase 2.1, new members, new picnic area, outreach ministries, Thanksgiving and Christmas concerts and Sabbaths, and much more? Sunnyside members have been very active this year and God has blessed.
As we go into the next year, we are already seeing the calendar starting to fill up. In fact, I just booked a special program for late February, 2016. It will be exciting to see how the Lord blesses Sunnyside this year. He said, “Occupy till I come (KJV),” or as the NASB translates the passage, “Do business until I come.” We cannot know the day or the hour, but we know that we are living in the latter slides of biblical prophecy. Our task is to be the feet, hands, arms, eyes, and ears, of Christ until he returns.
De Giebelhouse passed away December 23. There will be a memorial service for her this afternoon (Sabbath) at 5:00 at CherryWood Village Chapel.
This Sabbath we will launch our new year with a service under the theme of “New Beginnings”. And, what a better way to start the New Year than with a potluck! As I write this letter, I have seen that the new storage area interior has been textured and painted. That means that we should be able to move tables and chairs into that area this week and be able to celebrate finally having the entire floor space available to us to use. Hooray!!!
See you Sabbath,
Pastor Scott & Staff
