I just noticed that it is still January. I guess I was hoping for something different. Oh yes, this is the vacation that I wanted from pulling weeds and mowing grass. Praise the Lord! I think I get more sleep this time of the year.
Tomorrow is Bach Sabbath! What is Bach Sabbath? It will be unique and perhaps a first for Sunnyside. First, the majority of our music will come from Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach set to music and harmonization the poetic and deeply passionate words of some of his very religious close friends. We will try to capture the spiritual hunger of their time. But our purpose is not just to come to church and hear music. Bach lived during a very important crossroads of history—an era was coming to an end and a new one was being born. The events, before and after Bach’s era, have everything to do with why we are Seventh-day Adventists. It is history we must know in order to understand the cradle that rocked us.
Mel West is going to give us of his best! A lifetime of appreciation for what Bach gave to us. The sermon time, “Out of the Storm, Into the Light,” will look at the turmoil of this era and how it has marked us as “Adventists.” If you are a connoisseur of history, you might really appreciate tomorrow. Our final goal will be to kindle afresh the mantle placed upon us, that we have a message to tell to the world, Jesus is coming again!
There are very important announcements that follow. Please, look them over carefully.
See you tomorrow,
Pastor Scott & Staff
