Our wonderful summer continues to be one of the best in recent memory. The peaches are in full supply and a few of the other fall fruits are just starting to show up. Our abundance of foods, with their varied flavors and colors, is such a wonderful testimony to the wonderful God we serve.
The coming Sabbath will be the fourth annual time that Sunnyside has sponsored a special worship service for the hundreds of players and their families arriving in Portland for the annual Labor Day weekend, Adventist Softball Tournament.
As you have been made aware, Elder Herman Bauman, former Ministerial Secretary for the Oregon Conference and conference president for Montana and Arizona will be our guest speaker for both services. He is known and appreciated by so many. You will love Ed Wagner’s ministry on the organ.
We also had a change of lineup since Ed Keyes had to cancel due to a scheduling conflict, but Adventist pastor, book writer, and businessman, Fred Cornforth from Boise, Idaho will be coming and giving a special presentation in the sanctuary during the 10:00 Sabbath School time. I cannot say enough about how pleased I am that Fred is coming. If you have friends or relatives who are estranged from the church and Christ, please, invite them to come and hear both of these individuals.
Sabbath will include a potluck for friends and acquaintances of our guest speakers and musicians, as well as out of town guests. This is not a regular church potluck (that is next week) and the out of town guests have been urged to bring food for this lunch.
Sabbath evening at 6:00, we will host the 12th Annual Bobby McGhee and Friends Vespers to which we are all encouraged to come and worship and meet friends from far and near. Again, please, invite your friends and relatives to come for this special outreach even
