October 4 Communiqué

Don’t miss other Announcements  &  Week At a Glance in the Church Bulletin (Click here )

Sunnyside Friends and Church Family,

We still bask in God’s promise, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”  And then the Psalms joyfully commands, “Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His lovingkindness is everlasting…, sow fields and plant vineyards, and gather a fruitful harvest.” (Gen 8:22; Ps 107:1, 37)

One might add to these promises that God’s “Sabbaths” will not cease from the earth.  What could be more of a delight than an early October Sabbath in the northwest?  Surely its beauty brings a joy to the soul!

Tomorrow is fellowship dinner at Sunnyside.  Please, come and join in this time to get acquainted with some of our many new faces and old friends.  Tomorrow’s worship service will have something for everyone.  Although the service will have a special inclusion of youthful faces, expect to see our handbell quartet and hear Karl Helton’s hands on the organ.  The service is organized by Pastor Shirley, “Living the Dash.”

Please, start putting on your calendar the dates of Wednesday, October 29, through Sabbath November 1.  We will have a week-of-prayer service with Ty Gibson, director of Light Bearer’s Ministries.  Many of you know him from his repeated appearances at our Oregon Conference Camp Meeting, and perhaps from his well-known books, “Shades of Grace,” “An Endless Falling in Love,” and “A God Named Desire.”  See the announcement in the bulletin or communique for further details.

Elders, please, remember the prayer breakfast this Sunday morning at 8:30, which will include another discussion on leadership, this time taken from chapter two of our book, “Spiritual Leadership.”

See you Sabbath!

Sunnyside’s Week of Prayer seminar will be conducted October 29-November 1 from 7 pm to 9 pm each evening. Our guest speaker will be Ty Gibson of Light Bearers. His topic is “Reframe!–Your picture of God is about to be radically changed.” Our world is filled with ideas, conceptions, and pictures of God, most of which drive people to either serve God with fear or to definitely deny the very existence of God. What if we were to begin with a clean canvas and paint a picture of God that rules out all ideas that run contrary to the single premise, “God is love”? What picture would form Which doctrines would be eliminated? What would God look like if we were to completely reframe His character in the light that shines in the life of Jesus Christ? That’s what this week of prayer is about. It very well may revolutionize your life.

Women of the Meadow Glade area, Belle Cantori, and Sunnyside Church are joining together for our worship service on November 15. We would like to invite other women singers that would like to join us for that special day, especially if you are in a church community where you may not have the opportunity to sing with a larger group. If interested or would like more information, please contact Martha Natiuk, 360-666-9684, or Rosemayne Thompson, 503-730-5317.
