Hello Sunnyside and Friends,
Oooold Man Winter has made an early appearance! Seems like a light one at that! Anyway, Sunnyside weather inside is delightful and we are looking at a full weekend coming up at Life on the Sunnyside.
First up will be our Sabbath morning services. The combined Sunnyside and Meadow Glade area women’s choirs will bring to us several special choral numbers and Karl Helton promises to warm up the Rieger Organ. Our sermon thoughts are going to come from the first five chapters of the book of Matthew. There are many events contained in these few chapters and we often study them somewhat cutoff from each other. On Sabbath we are going to “look at the forest” and not just the trees and see some powerful messages that Matthew is telling us, but to do this, we must line them up as one fast moving story line, ending in the Beatitudes. In the “be-attitudes” we are going to see Jesus proclaiming the presence of the kingdom in a very new way. I think you will find this approach inspiring and refreshing!
Also this Sabbath is Sunnyside Children’s Church; this will start at 10 AM and will be held in the children’s wing.
Sunday will be a wedding shower for Laura Dickerson and Gabe Pinto at 1:00. Come and give them your blessing on their upcoming wedding.
Oh, yes, perhaps the most important thing happening this weekend outside of our worship services is the business meeting set for 6:00 pm, Saturday night. We will start with a spaghetti dinner and proceed into the meeting. As well as routine business, we will be looking at a Sunnyside young adult inreach/outreach endeavor for the year 2015. This has the potential to be one of the most important endeavors that Sunnyside has launched in years. Don’t miss this! Next, we will look over the financial pages of the Sunnyside financial ledger, and then we will look at the proposal for Sunnyside ReNew 2.2. This next phase, which includes among other things, a refurbishing of our lobby area and all of the four main restrooms, has long been a much anticipated part of our overall renovation plans. Please, don’t miss this important meeting!!!
