Thanksgiving at Sunnyside,

The holiday call and spirit of Thanksgiving continues to spread around the globe as more and more nations see the value in this originally American event.  Humankind has never been nobler as when on bended knee we give thanks to the Lord.  However, the American occasion is perhaps borrowed.  Read these words from King David found in 1 Chronicles 16:

“Oh, Give Thanks!

Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples.

Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders.

Glory in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.

Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually.

Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done,

O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Save us, O God of our salvation…, gather us from the nations to give thanks to Your holy name.

Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting.”

May these words be on your lips as you gather this celebratory week!  We will see you on Sabbath with the second of our Thanksgiving Sabbaths, this one titled: “They Gave Thanks.”  Again, it will be Sunnyside worshipping at its best with more music than sermon.  (Did I hear a shout of thanks!)
