March 7 Communiqué

Don’t miss other Announcements  &  Week At a Glance in the Church Bulletin (Click here )

Dear Sunnyside Family,

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! Psalm 100:4

It’s been a week ago since I was invited and accepted an invitation to serve as the Oregon Conference Children’s Ministry Director. Sunnyside has been my church and family ever since we arrived in the USA July 1, 2002. First Dave, and then both of us, and then I have had the opportunity to serve as a pastor at Sunnyside for the last thirteen years and for me, personally, seven and a half years. As I go through this month of transition from Sunnyside to the Oregon Conference it is with much thankfulness.

How can we be anything but thankful considering what Christ has done for us. Sarah Young writes. “Be awed by the vast dimensions of My Love for you: wider, longer, higher, and deeper than anything you know. Rejoice that this marvelous Love is yours forever!

The best response to this glorious gift is a life steeped in thankfulness. Every time you thank Me, you acknowledge that I am your Lord and Provider. This is the proper stance for a child of God: receiving with thanksgiving. Bring Me the sacrifice of gratitude, and watch me to see how much I bless you.”

Both Dave and I have been truly blessed to serve at Sunnyside. You took us into your hearts and blessed our lives and we are truly thankful. You allowed me the opportunity to serve the families of this church and being close to the children filled my heart with joy. I have had the opportunity to make friends with incredible women in this church who God uses to minister in so many ways. I don’t want to leave the men out knowing that I have depended on you for so much help in my ministry.

I have been blessed to pastor with my best friend and mentor, my husband Dave, and currently with Pastors Scott and Jonathan. Thank you for including me in your dream team as we each used our talents for the glory of God. Rosie, this church couldn’t function without you, thank you, thank you. We are thankful and blessed to have Kathy as part of the team.

Then to the wonderful friends and volunteers who God called to serve in this church and that I have personally ministered with, shoulder-to-shoulder, in committees, in the classes, in so many ways and so many places. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. May Sunnyside continue to exist to inspire a community of people toward a life transformed by Jesus.

May the Lord continue to bless and keep you and make His face to shine upon you.

Pastor Shirley
