Happy Summer Sunnyside!
Jesus, “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near.” (Matt 24:32) I might add that when we see cherries and blueberries in abundance, know that summer is actually here! This is also why we life in Oregon.
The Sabbath is every bit as much of a blessing as is the summer’s harvest. It is a time to be spiritually fed in abundance. The Sabbath is summer all year!
This Sabbath Pastor Jonathan is going to share his heart on a subject titled, “In Search of Common Ground.” He tells me that this has long been on his heart and he feels that it is especially timely in light of some of the much debated issues at the 2015 General Conference Session.
Next Sabbath, and on a similar theme, our new summer pastor from Walla Walla University, Alden Weaver, will share with us his first Sunnyside sermon titled, “The Call Which Unites Us.” If you have not met Alden, look for him this week and get acquainted.
Some have been asking how I am doing and when I will take the Sunnyside pulpit? I am actually doing quite well and ahead of schedule in the recovery from the heart surgery. I still have some residual numbness in the left arm from the stroke that seems to be slowly fading. I have three weekend sermons scheduled in August, two in September, and my last on October 3. I am starting to feel strong enough for these Sabbath services and am really looking forward to being back into this role. Thanks again for all of your support and your prayers.

2015 Gladstone Camp Meeting’s theme is “Called to Love…Members in Ministry.” As you can see this is not a finished thought because love is only possible as we experience God’s love first of all. And ministry without that component is missing both motivation and effectiveness. So join me in opening your heart to the beautiful and energizing reason for being “Called to Love….” – Jesus. The evening speaker Lee Venden is passionate about this topic. You will be blessed as he looks into the pictures of Jesus within the book of Revelation. Evening meetings begin at 7:00 pm.

July 24, 2015: You are invited to sing with Belle Cantori at Gladstone Camp Meeting. A special invitation to women… YOU ARE INVITED! If you are a woman who loves to sing, chorus member or soloist, please consider this your personal invitation to sing for the Friday evening service at Camp Meeting, July 24! No vocal training required, even just be able to sing the melody. This is your opportunity for the very special experience and blessing of joining your voice with a larger women’s chorus. There will be even a more joyous sound and personal reward singing with a larger ensemble when you make that possible by joining. Hesitant? Fearful? Lack confidence? It’s been years, perhaps, since you sang in a choral ensemble. Talk to me and let me encourage you! Give God the opportunity to gift you a special blessing, and for others, too. You will be singing with Belle Cantori from Meadowglade and with ladies from Sunnyside. Please communicate and let me know of your interest, providing your name, the vocal part you are comfortable singing, your email address, the church community from which you come, and your phone number. Martha Natiuk, email@example.com, 360-666-9684.

You will be treated as an employee of Adventist Hospice and held with the honor that you deserve. If you feel called, please contact the Adventist Health Hospice Volunteer Coordinator at (503) 251-6192 to learn more about the application process! Training to be offered in August.
