If you have not been inside of Sunnyside for a couple of weeks, you will be in for a surprise. The new floor tile has been laid. The north entry is finished and the west entry is being grouted as I write. It should all be finished by the weekend. It really looks great!!! I affirm the Design Committee for their work in selecting this tile. Some of us were worried that it might be slippery, but many who see it are commenting that it has just enough of a rough surface that slipping should not be a problem.
Next comes the carpeting in the hallways and some other parts of the church. First, we need to pull up the old carpeting and that is slated for Sunday, August 16. Carl Haggerty is heading up this project and is in need of volunteers. He says that you need not have experience; this will be a work-study project with all of the instruction you will need.
Meanwhile, this Sabbath we welcome John Loor, Jr. from the North Pacific Union Conference to Sunnyside as our guest speaker. Do remember that this is potluck Sabbath. The kitchen crew always appreciates foods that don’t require cooking, especially on such hot days like we will have this weekend.
Our God is always faithful, even though we often fail.
He knows about our weakness, and that our bodies are frail.
But by His grace and mercy, in His hand we shall remain.
For strength can only come, in the power of Jesus name.
~ Kurt Hardy ~
See you Sabbath,
Come praise the Lord!

News & Notes
Our worship services are at 8:45 am and 11:15 am. This week John Loor, Jr., executive secretary of North Pacific Union Conference, will present our Bible message titled “Facing Life with Confidence.”
Our monthly fellowship potluck is today immediately following the second service. You are invited to stay, enjoy great food, good friendships, and make new acquaintances.
The family of Nadine Hansen wishes to thank all the deacons, deaconesses. and others involved with the recent memorial service. Special thank you to Lloyd and Lorrie Wescott and Dianne Glovatsky.
Jon Crosby’s family wants to extend a very heartfelt “thank you” for the love and support you expressed to us throughout this very difficult period. The kind words and hugs, cards and flowers, and other acts of service were so very much appreciated. We felt God’s presence, and the prayers of our wonderful Christian community and friends, lifting and carrying us daily. We believe Jon’s life will briefly pause and will then continue without end in an earth made new. Please continue remembering us in your prayers and we will do the same for you. Thank you and may God bless you.

August 2015: Did you know that hospice is also about living life? Make a difference. Adventist Hospice patients need your gift of a little time as a Volunteer! Good with tools, play an instrument, like to garden, or play cards? Does it feed you to make people feel better? Let us match you with a waiting need. Caregivers need breaks to “recharge” their energies to tend to their loved one. Hospice patients with no family, especially, are greatly moved by your presence. You will be treated as an employee of Adventist Hospice and held with the honor that you deserve. If you feel called, please contact the Adventist Health Hospice Volunteer Coordinator at (503) 251-6192 to learn more about the application process! Training to be offered in August. Date forthcoming.
