Greetings to each and all;
A big thanks goes out to all who gave so much work and time into making last weekend such a wonderful success. Our ReUnion Sunnyside weekends are really a missional outreach to the many who live on the perimeter of the church (not having fully left but for various reasons not fully in) and who have found this annual weekend a meaningful time to come home.
Our Sabbath morning attendance (especially second service) was the highest in months and absolutely every seat was taken for the concert in the evening. The pizza party had double the attendance of last year. Dan Matthews and Paul Richardson presented a spiritual blessing that many are still commenting on. Thanks again to those who dedicated so many hours to make the events of Sabbath all that it was.
This Sabbath and weekend again contains a rather full schedule. The sermon theme, “O Sacred Flame, Come!” will focus on what the Bible means by being “born again.” Is it just a cliché, or a onetime event at baptism? What does it look like in biblical terms? We will let Jesus and Paul speak to us.
At 6:00 in the evening we will again host a wonderful concert to support People to People Ministries in Portland. Allison Cheng and many others will bring their best for our Lord and be asking us to help those who help others.
Sunday at 9:00 a.m., is the carpet pulling contest (not really a contest). Bring gloves, channel lock pliers, a dust mask, old clothes, and your best “grunt” sound. Eat a good breakfast.
See you at Sunnyside this weekend.

News & Notes
Pathfinders in our “News!”
Pathfinders have begun their new year with 27 kids in grades 5-12 meeting weekly. This weekend they will be camping out at the Oregon Conference Pathfinder Camporee which will be held at the Skamania Country Fair Grounds in Stevenson, Washington. Their weekend is packed full of activities. Pathfinders offer honors in just about everything you can think of. We are in need of additional staff to help with these honors. If you have an interest or hobby, perhaps you could volunteer to teach the kids about it, or teach a Bible exploration class. We have an upcoming beach trip — it would be nice to have someone come in and teach the kids about fossils. If you can help us in any way, short-term or long-term, contact Michael at 503-662-8224 or email@example.com.
Our worship services are at 8:45 am and 11:15 am. This week Pastor Scott LeMert will present our Bible message titled “O Sacred Flame, Come!”
ATTENTION CHILDREN’S SABBATH SCHOOL PARENTS:
There will be promotions in each of the children’s Sabbath School classes this week. There will be a special announcement and they will receive a certificate of promotion. Please bring your children so they may participate in this special event.
Close out the Sabbath this evening at 6:00 by attending a vesper concert benefiting People to People Ministries’ Weekend Backpack Program. This special concert here at Sunnyside will feature youth and young adults in music ministry including Allison Cheng, the 300 Watts String Trio, and others. Invite your friends!
Carpet pullers needed! If you can help pull carpet, Carl Haggerty would like your help. No experience needed – he will show you what to do. We just need volunteers on tomorrow at 9:00 am. It would be helpful if you bring gloves, channel lock pliers, and a dust mask. For more information call Carl at 917-374-6453.
