Last Sabbath, many of you were in church when I invited you to meet me at 7 AM on Sunday for our 7@7 Prayer Connection. I awoke on Sunday and navigated through the dark city, uncertain of what I would find when I arrived at church. I was surprised to find a parking lot more than a quarter full as people gathered to pray together. Around 60 people gathered before sunlight to lift up our community in prayer. A few dozen more joined us on Periscope. Day by day, we’ve met together to pray for our kids, to pray for our community, and to pray for our world. Beginning the week, I was prepared for the commitment of 7 days @ 7 AM. But I wasn’t prepared for the blessing of sharing and praying with dozens of other people. We’ve started our days together. We’ve poured out our hearts to God together. We’ve borne witness to the hand of God at work in the world. I hope that many of you were joining us in prayer from wherever you were this week.
Good news! There’s one more opportunity to join in the 7@7 Prayer Connection. Tomorrow morning at 7 AM, we will have our prayer meeting followed by breakfast. It’ll give you just enough time to get into first service. We will be live in person and on Periscope in the Fireside Room.
If we’ve learned one thing this week, it’s that our souls crave more prayer time than we are used to. It’s been a good week. In the end, I believe God is honored and His church is stronger.
Besides 7@7, Sabbath is a busy day. We welcome Pastor Eliseo Lozano from the Loma Linda area to share in our worship service as he recounts efforts to take the gospel into communist countries. A month from now, I will be traveling with a Sunnyside team and Pastor Lozano to do an evangelistic series in Cuba. But tomorrow, we will share and celebrate God’s work in taking the gospel to those who have never heard it.
I hope we will see you there.
