Dear Sunnyside Family,
This week at Sunnyside has been a week to remember. Lee & Marji Venden have been our guests, faithfully proclaiming the centrality of Jesus in our religious experience. As I have mingled with people before and after meetings, I’ve heard words like “refreshing,” “Life-changing,” “enriching.” Consistently, the Vendens have reminded us of the simplicity of the gospel. Just as importantly, they have reinforced the basic tactics by which we can daily connect with Jesus. But this simple, compelling message has re-focused and re-invigorated many to know Jesus as a friend and stay connected with Him throughout each day. If you’ve been unable to attend the meetings, you can still catch the content at allaboutjesusseminars.org.
I have been impressed that the “All About Jesus” message has been the right message for this time in the life of Sunnyside Church. As we lock in on our vision for the future and discover how God will lead us to interact with our community, our connection to Jesus is vital as we become “living witnesses” for Him. As we take steps to connect more meaningfully with each other, a vibrant spiritual life is the glue that connects us together.
I’m reminded of Ellen White’s perspective that before the latter rain would be poured out, “there will be among the people of the Lord such a revival of primitive godliness as has not been witnessed since apostolic times.” As Lee Venden has convincingly shared with us this week, “primitive godliness” has less to do with what we do and everything to do with Knowing Jesus.
May we answer the call as a community to know Jesus better, to love Him more deeply, to reflect Him more fully as we interact with each other and with those in our city.
“All About Jesus” continues tonight at 6:30 (complimentary supper beforehand) and tomorrow at 8:45 AM, 11:15 AM, 2 PM (complimentary lunch provided). I hope you’ll plan to be here for a day full of inspiration.
