Jonathan

Greetings Church Family,

This week has been a week full of wonder. Oregon pastors met together in Rockaway Beach for our annual pastors’ conference.  The weather was pristine. The clear blue sky framed “Twin Rocks” as the surf rolled in to the beach. God revealed Himself through the relentless power of the water, the brisk presence of the cool breeze, and the glorious view of the pristine sky.

Together, the family got to play human-sized foosball, mini-golf, frisbee golf, and my kids’ new favorite game: Gaga ball (Curious? Search GaGa Ball on Youtube!) God revealed Himself as we spent time together, reminding us of the meaning of family connection, love, and even forgiveness.

Through the meetings, Ty Gibson shared the gospel anew as we wrestled with how to be more Christ-centered and gospel-focused in our Oregon churches and ministry. God revealed Himself through the clear, resounding presentation of the gospel and the spirits of everyone who listened.

Upon arriving back in Portland, God revealed Himself through the excited energy of ministry leaders as they prepared for tomorrow’s ministry fair.

The week was full of wonder, because God was there.  I hope that you also saw Him at work somewhere in your life.

As we experience this Sabbath we will celebrate the faithful work of countless volunteers and the ministries in which they are involved.  God has called us to this time and place to inspire a community of people toward a life transformed by Jesus. Every ministry, in its context is advancing mission of inspiring this community and I can’t wait for us to recognize those ministries.  I’m also praying that someone will be moved to be a bit more involved in ministry — a bit more invested in the mission through their talent and energy.

Tomorrow will be a good day.  I hope to see you there.

Blessings,

Pastor Jonathan Russell

Women’s Chorus Rehearsals: Please join the women of Meadow Glade and the women of Sunnyside as we sing together for the worship services of November 5. There is nothing quite like a large group of women singing together – both hearing and actually singing with the group. We need your voice to swell the sound of praise – two anthems accompanied by handbells – creating a truly unique musical experience. Please consider the following choices of rehearsals to learn the music:

  1. a) during first service today at 9:00 am in the Choir Room
  2. b) following potluck this Sabbath, in Choir Room about 1:45 or 2
  3. c) Tuesday evening, October 11, 7:00-8:00 pm in the Choir Room

Other rehearsals will be announced later. Please communicate your interest and support with Rosemayne, 503-730-5317 or rosemaynet@frontier.com. Thank you!
