In my devotions this morning, I was reading about Peter and his incredible experience with Jesus walking on the water. We know it well; while he trusted in Jesus to take care of his walking, all was well, but as soon as he looked down, his attention was taken by his own inability in the face of the waves, and he started to sink. I remember when I first started to learn to swim – floating was such a challenge! I would try and try to make myself float, thrashing about, splashing, and dog paddling. I made it to the surface, but was never able to stay there and my efforts would leave me exhausted. It was only when I relaxed, and trusted the water to hold me, that my body rose to the surface. As long as I stayed relaxed, allowing the water to hold me, I was fine. But then I would start to worry, wondering where I was, how far from the edge I was floating. I would lift my head to take a look and down I would go again!
God’s love is like that water. Our efforts to “stay afloat,” to earn His love, are exhausting and counterproductive. Like Peter, we begin to sink as we begin to worry about how our floating is going! We lift our heads to try to work out where we need to be, and down we go! But as we learn to trust God’s love to hold us, to do what needs to be done in our lives, we rise to the surface, and are carried.
It is my prayer that you are able to pause, and see the love of God that surrounds you this Sabbath, and rest in His presence.

March 17-26: Islam and Christianity in Bible Prophecy.
The headlines are unmistakable. Our world is on the precipice of extraordinary cataclysmic change. The conflict between two great religions – Islam and Christianity – is fast approaching a devastating climax that will shake the whole world. Indeed, the face of Western Europe has already been transformed through rapid Islamic expansion, and the fear of terror and holy war pervade the American psyche as multiple conflicts rage in the Middle East. But what happens next – and when? In an age of constant unpredictability, how can we really know what the future holds? After a decade of careful study and scholarly legwork, international speaker Tim Roosenberg unveils a staggering new study of Bible prophecy that demonstrates that God’s Word is not silent regarding Islam in these last days. Islam and Christianity in Prophecy carefully explores and unlocks the mysterious book of Daniel, specifically chapters 11 and 12, unveiling a thrilling picture of prophecy that includes the past, present, and future roles of Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam, and the United States in the final conflict ahead. Along the way, Tim Roosenberg provides the answers you need to survive the growing holy war, answers that will give you complete confidence in God’s Word the Bible, and faith in the promises of Christ. Event Location: Healing Hope Adventist Fellowship.
