As the Sabbath draws near, I want to draw your attention to the words of Paul:
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap harvest if we do not give up. Therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:9-10
It is such a blessing to be a part of such a large caring community like Sunnyside! You truly are a family who have not given up in doing good!
But as we all experience at times, a large community can make it challenging to keep up with everyone! This is of particular concern to me in the area of Pastoral Care. We have a wonderful Pastoral Care Team who are very committed to connecting with those going through challenging times, but we are not always aware of the needs! We need your help to ensure people are not overlooked. If you know of someone who is experiencing illness or other challenges, with their permission, please let myself or Rosie know.
Thank you for your love and faithfulness,
Pastor Kara Johnsson
Send your “shout-outs” to info@SunnysideAdventist.org so we can include them in next week’s Communiqué. This is a place you can recognize someone for doing good, or going beyond expectations.
Elaine Bradshaw – you are always a wonderful presence! Thank you for sharing your musical talents at the organ and in the choir, your cooking and baking, and amazing interest in how others are doing. You are so appreciated!
Our worship services are at 8:45 and 11:15 am. Pastor Jonathan Russell will present our Bible message titled “Reflections on Life: For the Love of Giving.”
This afternoon, 4:00 pm, our Adventist Heritage seminar will meet in the Youth Room. If you have been meaning to attend our seminar but haven’t been able, today would be a great day to jump in and join us! We will continue to study how the “Little Flock” is emerging from the chaotic environment surrounding the Great Disappointment. You can pick up a summary of our “journey” thus far from the information table in the narthex. We hope to see you at 4:00 this afternoon.
Sunday, March 12, 11:00 am, a memorial service will be conducted for Ken Iverson here at Sunnyside. He passed away January 16.
The month of March is “Update Our Directory” month. Please review your information to make sure it is current. We also need your picture. You may forward a photo you like, update it yourself through the online directory, or there will be a crew in each of the lobbies to take a snapshot we can use. Send your updated information and pictures to info@SunnysideAdventist.org.
March 13, 7:00-8:00 pm Gems, Rocks, and Minerals Show – Display your collection for education of your Sunnyside Pathfinders! Contact Russ Davidson at 503-622-1825 or email@example.com. You may know that rock and mineral products are critical to our health and economy. They are used in components of glittering skyscrapers, automobiles, aircraft, spacecraft, appliances, electronics, and pharmaceuticals. Gemstones are so beautiful we adorn our loved ones with them. Our God’s New Jerusalem will descend from heaven sparkling like crystal having a foundation of 12 gemstones etched with the apostle’s names. Pathfinders are learning about rock and minerals, their uses, and to describe and identify them. Come, support our quest for knowledge about nature.
Family Resource Network thank you for your generous support. Many families have been helped thanks to you. Mark your envelope account #488. Urgent current need: Newborn baby boy clothes, sofa, and blankets. Contact Marie 503-998-3754.
If you have four wheels, a drivers license, and a few free minutes on Sabbath morning, we need you! Actually, our refugee families need you. As a church, we have undertaken the mentoring of about 50 individuals who have come to our country from the Congo or Uganda seeking peace, security, a new start in this life, and the opportunity to worship with their Seventh-day Adventist family. Someday these folks will have their own vehicles and won’t need this help, but until that day they are depending on you and me. Each Sabbath morning we provide transportation for these wonderful folks to our Sunnyside Adventist Church. As summer approaches with vacations and other distractions, we are going to need help in this transportation project. Could you help? Or if you would like more information, please call Dick Gingrich (503 252 9384) or Dan Patchin (503 665 8500). More hands, or cars and drivers, will help lift the load for all involved. Thanks so much for considering this opportunity for Christian outreach.

We’re so excited to be watching these students prepare for what will be a life-changing experience for them and those they will help. Follow the link to read more about what they’ll be doing and how you can help. You can also follow their blog which is updated about their diligent preparation. The blog will be the main form of communication during their trip later this month, so we encourage you to follow along!

March 17-26, 7:00 pm: Islam and Christianity in Bible Prophecy.
The headlines are unmistakable. Our world is on the precipice of extraordinary cataclysmic change. The conflict between two great religions – Islam and Christianity – is fast approaching a devastating climax that will shake the whole world. Indeed, the face of Western Europe has already been transformed through rapid Islamic expansion, and the fear of terror and holy war pervade the American psyche as multiple conflicts rage in the Middle East. But what happens next – and when? In an age of constant unpredictability, how can we really know what the future holds? After a decade of careful study and scholarly legwork, international speaker Tim Roosenberg unveils a staggering new study of Bible prophecy that demonstrates that God’s Word is not silent regarding Islam in these last days. Islam and Christianity in Prophecy carefully explores and unlocks the mysterious book of Daniel, specifically chapters 11 and 12, unveiling a thrilling picture of prophecy that includes the past, present, and future roles of Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam, and the United States in the final conflict ahead. Along the way, Tim Roosenberg provides the answers you need to survive the growing holy war, answers that will give you complete confidence in God’s Word the Bible, and faith in the promises of Christ. Event Location: Healing Hope Adventist Fellowship.
