Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:1-2
Over the past couple of weeks, several people who are relatively new to our community have shared with me how much they have appreciated the Sunnyside Church family genuinely welcoming and caring for them, taking time to know them. And I wanted to take this opportunity to affirm and thank you for being the loving church family that you are. It is not something that just “happens;” it takes commitment from each of us to look beyond ourselves and to give of our time.
I also want to thank our Sabbath School classes and cultural groups who have willingly agreed to host guest potlucks. This also takes time, commitment, and selflessness. There are Sabbaths when we have quite a few guests who appreciate greatly the opportunity to share a meal, and at other times, those visiting have already made other plans. If this has been your experience, please do not feel that all the preparation was a loss; a significant part of the vision of Sabbath School and cultural potlucks is to foster deeper relationships among our own church family, so whether guests arrive or not, you are doing just that.
May we keep on “loving one another as brothers and sisters” as well as showing “hospitality to strangers.”
Thank you for your commitment to God and each other – you are a blessing to know and love!
Pastor Kara Johnsson
Send your “shout-outs” to info@SunnysideAdventist.org so we can include them in next week’s Communiqué. This is a place you can recognize someone for doing good, or going beyond expectations.
A big thank you to Lloyd Wescott, Richard Zaversnuke, and Tom Kramer for the installation of new stainless steel shelves and backsplash above the kitchen sink. The completed project gives the kitchen a professional, cheerful and bright look, and provides storage for the many utensils which are necessary for the frequent occasions we use the kitchen.
Today is Communion Sabbath. Our worship services are at 8:45 and 11:15 am. Pastor Jonathan Russell will present our Bible message titled “Anticipating Glory.”
This afternoon at 4:00 pm, the Advent Heritage seminars will continue in the Youth Room.
Please pray for comfort and peace for the families of . . .

Family Resource Network—Thank you for your continued support. We do, however, have a critical need that is described below. It is more than just monetary, but we do need your help. Critical Need of Refugee Families
From the beginning of the resettlement process, there has been an intensive effort to help the refugees to learn English and find work opportunities. They have been attending language classes and receiving help in job procurement by the non-profit Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO). It is very important for the refugees to find work to support their families and pay their rent. Job opportunities are good at this time, but many of them that a person with limited English language skills can obtain, require the employee to work on Sabbath. I have been impressed by the stand these people have taken to be faithful to God’s command. Just recently one of our single mothers lost her job rather than to work on Sabbath.
Paul Makoko, a former immigrant from Africa, who is fluent in English, and is a volunteer with the Cultural Navigator Team (CNT) is willing to advise and accompany our refugees for job interviews and help orient them to new job skills.
If any of you know of any entry level jobs for male or female that do not require Sabbath work, please let us know, either by calling Paul Makoko 360-450-8677 firstname.lastname@example.org or Richard Gingrich, 503-252 9384.
