May 6 Communiqué

Don’t miss other Announcements  &  Week At a Glance in the Church Bulletin (Click here)

Greetings

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.
Isaiah 42:16

Sometimes in our journeys, Jesus can seem so near, we see him so clearly. At other times, he can seem absent. As the disciples journeyed away from Jerusalem following the crucifixion, absent didn’t come close to describing the loss, the pain, the confusion they were experiencing as they processed all the events that had taken place. The pain was so great that as Jesus walked alongside them, helping them process, they could not recognize him. He journeyed with them the whole way to Emmaus, and it was only after he shared a meal with them, that their eyes were opened.

What is beautiful and comforting to me, is that though they could not recognize him, he truly was journeying with them. Even as they expressed their disappointment and disbelief, he continued to walk with them. He chose to stay, to spend the evening meal, to even share their accommodation. And their eyes were opened.

He is with us Family, even when we can’t sense his presence, even when it may feel like we are lost. He is faithful, and will bring us to a place where we see him clearly again.

 In Him,

Pastor Kara Johnsson
