Greetings Church Family,
It has certainly been a very busy couple of weeks for our family as we have transitioned here to Sunnyside. The things that are required with any move can be very nerve wracking and hectic. There are so many things that require your time and energy such as packing, loading, unloading, and unpacking. As my family and I were going through the last stage of this process something occurred to me.
There is a big move coming that we will hopefully all take part in. Except that this move will not require us to pack, load, unload and unpack. This move will be one where we will not have to or get to take “stuff” with us. I am referring to the time when Jesus Christ returns to take us to heaven. As I thought about this several questions entered my mind. How attached am I to all this stuff? Would I be happy leaving it all behind? How attached am I to it? The reality of my situation was that in the midst of all that work I would have been happy to leave it all behind if I could have.
We are counseled in Matthew 6:19- 21:
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
I can honestly say that even though I have accumulated some stuff, it is not my treasure because my heart is NOT attached to it. I would happily leave it all behind with no second thoughts.
So what about you, are you ready for that big move? Where is your treasure being stored up? My prayer, hope, and challenge is that you can answer, “Yes, I am ready!” and that your treasure is being stored up in heaven.
Blessings to you and yours!
Send your “shout-outs” to info@SunnysideAdventist.org so we can include them in next week’s Communiqué. This is a place you can recognize someone for doing good, or going beyond expectations.
Shout out to all those who helped with the Strawberry Vespers – from presenting lovely music to the preparation of all the strawberries and shortcake, and especially taking time to help in the clean up afterwards. A very special thank you from Lloyd and Lorrie Wescott!
Today’s worship services are at 8:45 and 11:15 am. Pastor Juan Fresse will present our Bible message titled “What Do They Know?”
June 24, 5:00 pm, in the Youth Room, come and learn about our next 12-day journey to Israel and Jordan in March 2018. Dr. Alexander (Sasha) Bolotnikov is leading a group through Jerusalem, Mount Nebo, Nazareth, and Bethlehem. There is no better way to increase your knowledge of the Bible and to connect with places where events described in Scripture occurred then going and visiting them. It is an unforgettable life-time experience to walk in the footsteps of Moses, David, and Jesus. Note the date and come hear the details of our next trip! Dr. Bolotnikov will fill you in all the details, and answer any questions you might have.
