Greetings church family,
This past week my wife was able to attend the North American teacher’s convention held in Chicago, Illinois. It was interesting to have her sending us text messages with pictures of those people that she ran into who our family knew. There was also a barrage of pictures being put up on different social media accounts of people running into old friends. The one thing that all these pictures had in common was that the people were so joyous at being together.
Looking at those pictures I could not help but think about what a celebration and reunion we will have in heaven. When we will get to see and be together with those who are close to us who we have not seen in a while. It will be nice to see those who live far away from us, but I think particularly about those loved ones who have gone to rest in Jesus. Those who we can no longer speak to on the phone, see on social media, or even visit on vacation. Most of us have experienced the loss of someone near and dear to our heart. We had several church members and family of church members who fell asleep in Jesus this past week. It makes me think of a great promise found in the book of Isaiah. “Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For your dew is a dew of light, and the earth will give birth to the dead.” (Isaiah 26:19; ESV)
I want to encourage you today. Continue to walk with Jesus, continue to allow Him to be the guide of your life, so that when He returns in the clouds of glory we will be able to hear those words from Matthew 25. “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!” (Matthew 25:23; NLT) It will be a great and joyous day when we will not only celebrate with Jesus, but with all our loved ones who have fallen asleep in Jesus. Oh, what of day of rejoicing that will be. It will be a day of celebration and reunion. I’m looking forward to that day and I know that you are too.
Blessings to you and yours,
Pastor Juan Fresse
