I had to get new tires on a vehicle today. Since I didn’t want to just sit and wait for an hour I decided to Uber to the gym I workout at and pass the time spinning on a stationary bike. It was a good workout. When I cooled down I summoned another Uber driver to pick me up.
As I got into the car I noticed that she quickly silenced what seemed to be a sermon playing through her sound system. I told her that I didn’t mind at all if she wanted to play the sermon as we drove back to the tire store. As she turned it back up she asked, “So, what do you do for a living?” I told her that I am a pastor. That’s when she lit up. “Really? That’s so cool!” She said.
She asked me if I was familiar with the pastor that she was listening to. I was. Then she asked, What church do you pastor? I told her that I was the pastor of the Sunnyside Seventh-day Adventist Church. Again she lit up. She told me she’s passed it several times and then said, “One of my good friends is a Seventh-day Adventist.” As we talked she told me what she knew of the denomination and that she really liked her friend. Before I got out of the car I invited her to join us one Sabbath for our second service and then prayed over her.
It was a wonderful opportunity that God gave me to share the good news and fellowship with a fellow believer. Let’s all look for opportunities like this to share our faith. I believe that when we do, we bring a smile to the Creator of all these little God moments.
