The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Psalm 19:1.
Terry and I recently spent a week vacationing in the warm waters of the Caribbean. There were many highlights during this week – warm weather and a chance to spend quality time with my bestie being pretty high on the list! An unexpected joy, however, was the brilliance of the stars as we sailed far away from the lights of land.
I have always enjoyed star gazing. When I was young and lived far away from those I loved, I used to take comfort in the knowledge that those I loved and missed, could see the same stars that I saw. I know, I was pretty sentimental!
As science has advanced, the stars have revealed an incredible depth of beauty in God’s creation. What to the naked eye is a simple dot of light in the sky, sometimes even covered over by clouds, is in reality, a complex stunning work of art. It reminds me to pause before jumping to conclusions when it comes to God’s human creation. In our “naked eye’s perspective,” we may only see a very dim dot of light. Sometimes the clouds of life can even block out that light altogether. But God’s creative ability gives us the assurance that a work of art is present. Time and circumstances may need to pass before we can see, but it is there nonetheless.
Wishing you a blessed Sabbath,
Pastor Kara Johnsson
