Dear Sunnyside Church Family,

I am particularly pleased to report ReNew Funds to date as follows:

  1. The initial  $50,000 challenge has been met and with the matching funds from a generous donor, we now effectively have $100,000. But that’s not all…
  1. Another donor kindly put up a further $25,000 to match the next level of dollar donations. But, that’s not all…
  1. At the beginning of March we were about $4,000 into that $25,000 challenge. And, you guessed it, that’s not all…
  1. Last week another kind donor gave $20,000. This makes  $24,000 of the $25,000 challenge. Oh! That’s not all!
  1. As of this week, we can gratefully report that the second level $25,000 has been reached, the matching dollars are in and the ReNew Fund stands at over $150,000.

We are blessed by numerous donors who have been prompted by the Lord to give to this project. Every dollar given in small and larger amounts has added up to an impressive total. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Pray for God’s blessings as we continue to let Him show each of us how we can have a part in this project. Our ReNew Fundraising Committee will meet shortly to plan on how the next level of raising funds will happen.

Pray for the ReNew Committee and sub-committees as they make plans, consider options, kinds of changes, and priorities for the needed upgrades to our main platform area, lighting and sanctuary decor. We expect specific costing estimates and corresponding giving goals in due course.

Pray that when the project is completed we will be able to see that God has been glorified and we can continue to praise Him from Whom all blessings flow.

Sincerely,

 Pastor Dave Allen

PS: Oh! And that’s not all! This week another $24,000 was given to the ReNew fund. Praise the Lord. Again and again and again!

Send your “shout-outs” to info@SunnysideAdventist.org so we can include them in next week’s Communiqué. This is a place you can recognize someone for doing well, or going beyond expectations.

Shout out to Pauline Davis, Jan and Dean Browning, and Lloyd Wescott for planting the Primroses and helping with the weeding of the entry borders.

Another big shout out to Don Krein whom we noticed here during the week cleaning up the landscape and pulling out the weeds!

Thank you to all of you for your strong support in beautifying our church surroundings.

A special shout out to all the musicians including Janine Hudkins as the chorister, and our scripture readers, Annalise and Dexter Hill, as well as all involved for making last week’s worship service so special. Thank you!

Interested in a garden plot? Adventist Health Portland is partnering with the non-profit, Outgrowing Hunger, to create the new Market Street Garden. Garden plot reservations are going quickly and almost full! There are many nations represented, including Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burma, Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mexico, USA, and others. (Slavic families have also expressed interest). Many are fairly recent immigrants and refugees. This is an amazing opportunity for Adventists who have a passion for growing fresh produce/flowers, AND for joining with the Spirit in sowing and possibly reaping souls for God’s glory. Consider having your family, or join with other families to “farm a plot with God” in this amazing ministry opportunity. To apply for a garden plot, please complete the special form (located on the Narthex table) ASAP, and/or contact Adam Kohl at
971-231-4191, https://outgrowinghunger.org/.

Family Resource Network – Thank you for your continued support that has helped so many people in their time of need. Place your funds in an envelope marked Family Resource Network, account number 488. Immediate needs are: Living room/dining room set, kitchen items, and blankets — any house furnishings will help.

September 22-26: Deaf Christian Women’s Retreat.
In 2002, a group of deaf women decided to start a Women’s Retreat for deaf women in the Pacific Northwest. The deaf women are members of a completely different people group with their own rich language and culture. There is an average of 20 women attending the Deaf Women’s Retreat, and the deaf women who attend come from as far as the east coast. They enjoy gathering together – it’s like a family reunion. This year they are hoping to rent a bus to take the women to the coast for the day; however, they do not yet have the funds for this to happen. Also, this year, for the first time, they will be selling shirts with their logo on them to help raise funds for future events. They are hoping and praying they will be able to earn enough money so they can pay the expense for the weekend, and bring in a speaker from another state. If you would like to help sponsor the retreat, you can send a check made payable to “Tabernacle Adventist Church” and mark it for “Deaf Christian Women’s Ministries,” 26 SW Condor Way, Portland, OR 97239.
Event Location: Camp Tilikum, 15321 NE North Valley Rd, Newberg.
